GreenSET Third Steering Committee Meeting Held in Heraklion, Crete
The GreenSET consortium convened in Heraklion, Crete, on 20–21 May 2026 for its Third Steering Committee Meeting (SCOM3), bringing together representatives from all nine partner organisations to review project progress and plan the next phase of implementation.
The meeting focused on evaluating the outcomes of the first round of pilot activities, which engaged nearly 30 tourism SMEs across the partner regions. Participants exchanged experiences and lessons learned from a diverse range of sustainable tourism initiatives, highlighting innovative approaches to circular economy, cultural heritage, slow tourism, and local value creation.
Partners also discussed refinements to the MED Sustainable Service Innovation Methodology (MEDSSIM) based on feedback gathered during the pilot phase. Particular attention was given to the launch of the second piloting round, which will focus on training Business Support Organisations to apply and transfer the methodology throughout the Euro-MED region, ensuring a wider and more sustainable impact.
In addition, consortium members reviewed progress on the development of transfer strategies, expert certification schemes, communication activities, and stakeholder engagement actions that will support the long-term uptake of project results.
The meeting concluded with preparations for the next project milestones, including the Fourth Steering Committee Meeting in Faro, Portugal, in November 2026 and the final GreenSET Conference in Valencia, Spain, in 2027.
